Expressionless face
Dry demeanor, no movement in forehead or eye muscles is incongruous when expressing grief, other emotions etc (lack of expression also tells you everything)
Deflection
Shifting focus away to another topic or person. Can be used to avoid accountability
Non answer
Passive avoidance of a direct response, dodging questions or giving vague statements without confirming or denying anything
Asymmetrical facial expressions
Can indicate mixed emotions, hiding a feeling (showing a deliberate, controlled response rather than a spontaneous genuine one)
Spontaneous corrections
While telling the truth, it can reflect normal memory retrieval
Self-comforting gesture
Unconscious body movements to reassure oneself or calm stress and discomfort. Such as rubbing hands, stroking neck or face, playing with hair etc
False start
An aborted or sudden change in speech or gesture can indicate hesitation, lack of confidence, or an attempt to conceal information. Can be a subconscious signal that the person is filtering their words or struggling to maintain a narrative
Gestural timing
When expressing an emotion, voicing it and expressing it physically would happen simultaneously, not incongruously
Admitting to an argument
An innocent person might admit to an argument with someone, whereas a guilty person might not, in order to avoid anything that could be incriminating
