My true question is what is best to do during the come up and come down if you’re with someone else?
I have been Microdosing for a few months following the Stamets protocol minus niacin because it made me feel so terrible the first time I microdosed (only for 30 mins but the second time I basically broke out into hives so not too keen on trying it again).
I tried my first macro dose a few weeks ago, not sure if this is the right way to do it but I’ve got a lot of anxiety so I took 500 mg first then another 500 mg a few hours later. Would love some insight – is it better to take all at once?
The come up is intense for me as I’m sensitive to most substances anyways. I smoke weed every night so I did end up smoking that night which I regret – it didn’t necessarily cause any negative effects but I would like to respect the mushrooms and I think that’s something they taught me during the trip lol. Which is interesting because I’ve been wanting to smoke less.
Anyways, sorry I’m a rambler. I ended up giving into a little bit of negativity and having a moment – I kind of felt like my best friend and boyfriend were mad at me because I’m kind of the one that takes control of the situation most of the time and in this state I felt out of control even though I was having a great time. But I excused myself and had a little cry in the bathroom then just put everything on the table to them and told them that I was just misunderstanding everyone and having a moment. I’m so glad I let myself open up to them instead of just letting it stay in my head and fueling my insecurity. Then we went back to having a great time (it was just me and my best friend who took it). I wanted to be outside the entire time but towards the end of the day it was storming too much to be outside.
We’re planning on doing it for the second time this weekend and I think we both want to get some mental benefits from it but aren’t putting too much pressure on that. We don’t want to do it alone or with someone who isn’t doing it like a trip sitter because we both have issues with feeling judged. We do have someone we are very comfortable with that will know we are doing this and can come pick us up if we walk too far or bring us water etc.
This time around I was thinking we could plan a little better and make sure to be outside as much as possible, maybe even paint a little because we both love art. Have some quiet times where we each listen to our own music and of course be flexible to where it leads us.
For the come down, I just want it to all end on a good note. I love smoking weed because of the instant stop to anxiety so that’s my first thought but I’d really prefer to not mix substances again.
We will be taking around 1g of golden teacher and we’re thinking of taking it all at once on a Saturday morning.
I’d say don’t take all those shrooms and then again a few hours later. They don’t work like that. It’s not like alcohol that you’ll keep getting drunk.
Sometimes when you’re not feeling them it’s because they are either weaker ones or they got absorbed in your food or you can have low/high tolerance, or other reasons that there aren’t really any workarounds to in that moment.
If you’re already familiar with that batch of shrooms’s effects, I suggest taking the amount you want to try all at once for the macro dose.
I smoke mj too, but even that and psilocybin I don’t mix a ton of.
I’ll usually have a couple bowls OR a joint once I’ve taken the shrooms, just to pass the time as it kicks in. And maybe a bowl at the end when I feel myself coming down. But yeah if you don’t want to mix substances, just don’t. Better be as comfortable as possible.
During the dose I just want to enjoy what the shrooms do. Realize that THEY are doing. *You* are simply experiencing, while ideally putting yourself in the safest most peaceful and comfortable environment for the experience
Do you mean your physical come up is intense or the mental part??
I think the mental benefits are always there. Personally any time I dose, I think of something in particular I’d like to process during, and then let the trip lead me. Love this quote:
“The key to becoming an excellent psychedelic facilitator lies in holding no expectations for the outcome, and knowing it is not you who is doing the healing.”
— Natasja Pelgrom
I think it can also be applied not just to formal facilitators, but to ourselves when we dose: you take the shrooms, be flexible and *they* teach/show you.
For your question about what the best to do during the come up and come down if you’re with someone else…
Keep it simple. Sure you can have props or other things to ground you to your surroundings while you come up/down….but you can have a great experience just enjoying taking the dose together. Then just talking and checking in when you feel things start to kick in.
Sometimes it’s fun just to notice how different your body and sensations feel from feeling “normal” and quietly observing the transition to being high…and gauge what you’re feeling. You can normally tell how high you’re about to get or at the very least monitor the beginning stage…because if it’s a huge dose you won’t have to think too hard about it.
The experience will just tell YOU what’s what. Every dose of any size is going to be different. But it’s a wonderful uniqueness.
