Going to dispensaries to shop for new flower is one of my favorite errands. There are tons of great brands and strains, so I never know what new gem I’ll get to experience.
I’m not saying I’m any type of expert, but I like what I like. And I love the act of considering new possibilities. Experiencing new versions, new scents, new highs, new tastes–-it’s all a fun process.
Things I care about when choosing sativas:
- That it’s their most premium, top-est shelf quality (which also means $$$$).
- The THC percentage: usually I look for anything at a minimum of 28%, but lately I’ve been exploring mainly around 33%.
- The effects they’ll give me: I typically look for strains that are cerebral, creative, active, or some version of euphoric.
- The look of the flower: how beautiful and glistening the trichomes look, how chonky and lush the buds are. 🤌
- The scent: tbh the scent of the cannabis I choose is the most important factor in selection. Even if the flower has all the aforementioned qualities I want—if it doesn’t smell amazing, I won’t choose it. Scent is the deciding factor.
Favorite scents: sweet, floral, pine, earthy, citrus (but depends on what version, because I don’t like an acrid taste)
