Nature, cannabis, people

The three things I consider when moving anywhere…

That the natural environment is healing to me, it’s easy to acquire top shelf weedsies, and the overall vibe of the population there. I need to be by the ocean, and I need lush greenery. The ganj isn’t required necessarily, but the area can’t be a crazy narc about it. People are people everywhere, but sometimes you look for some type of vibe–and particularly, a diverse population because ✨food✨ and languages.

I’ve only been to 9 other countries so far, and 46 out of these 50 states. But so far, I would only ever live “long term” in 2 of the states here: California and Hawaii.

Though I wouldn’t mind Miami Beach for a season of beach and high-rise life every now and then. One of my main criteria for a home base is that I can actually swim in the ocean there. And so far, I’ve only done that in Del Mar, Oahu, and Miami Beach. Generally I want to see more tropical beaches around the world, though. 🏝️

But California is home. Growing up in San Diego was the life.

The beach in Del Mar every day in the summer. All the beachside walks we took together…

I’ve lived in most of the famous cities: Orange County, Los Angeles, San Francisco, the only one I’m missing is Santa Barbara, but maybe I’ll get around to it one day, who knows.

California has everything. Beautiful nature, amazing selection of international food. So much diversity of people and languages. And easy to get salaf and the cybes.

I guess most of that is why Hawaii is my other homebase.

But one of the things I love about Hawaii is that it doesn’t look anything like united states. Sure, by a bullshit coup it’s part of it, but it naturally doesn’t look like it. Anywhere on the mainland, whether you drive through California, through Nevada, through Arizona—wherever you go–all the states connect to other states and the transitions between them aren’t some wild difference in nature. You just know where you are. It has that particular “us” vibe.

But in Hawaii, it’s an entirely different land. An entirely different energy. It’s the most beautiful place that feels like a whole other world.

I feel peaceful out there. The pacific is home.

I only see possibility in the world when I’m looking out at the ocean, seeing the sun set in the west.
