service desk technicians @ a manufacturer/retailer
These roles were probably my fastest time-to-hire ever. From the day I started working on the reqs, until the new hires’ start date, it was exactly 2 weeks. “Service Desk Technician, Level 1 | Service Desk Technician, Level 2 (Technology)” I’ve recruited for so many service desk, help desk, and…

DC Solicit template for candidate outreach
More like a template skeleton. Re-used messaging gets old fast. So I like to write new “blurbs” for every job I work on. Keeps me fresh. Candidate sourcing outreach: DC Solicit template (discovery call solicitation) This has always gotten me great results. Sharing as much information upfront so that they…

brand design manager @ a sports franchise
Generally, I’m not really interested in sports. But it’s fascinating to see such a hugely popular industry do the actual work of creating the visuals that everyone understands and relates to: their ✨brand✨. I was curious how they get results from all their efforts, so I took this role on…

49 clients in 30 days
Sometimes I really be doing the most. And all it teaches me is that I do not miss high volume work. I mean it was a rush for a time, I enjoyed it a LOT at some point, but not anymore. Nothing is that serious that I need that type…

Reasons NOT to hire recruiters
First of all, recruitment is super easy. All you do is post a job, wait for applications to come in, screen them, and you find THE ONE every time. You offer them the job, and they accept it 100% of the time. It’s not like there’s any sourcing, selling, closing,…

“I uSe AI tO aUtoMaTe aLL mY tAsKs sO thAt I cAn haVe tiMe To dO whAt REALLY mAtTeRs…”
That thing being: “Talking to candidates and nurturing relationships.” It’s pro-AI propaganda from kool aid drinkers. When TF has there not been time to “talk to candidates”?! That IS the job. There’s no “making time for it.” I have never felt I have so much admin work that I don’t…

How to manifest a job by extorting employers
1. EDUCATE yourself on everything about the California Pay Transparency Act, SB-1162 Employment: Salaries and Wages. (https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB1162) 2. If in your job search you’ve noticed job postings based in California (with 15+ employees) that DO NOT list the compensation in the job posting, reach out to the guilty companies and…

How to NOT be a corporate cuck
It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you manipulate the system… Unless companies and teams in charge of hiring create an honest and highly efficient process, a lot of hiring practices are to the applicant’s disadvantage. People don’t work at what they love or what they’re passionate about (or whatever…

uNeThiCaL job hunting hacks
In my opinion, the whole professional shtick is just a game, and it’s inconsequential if you want to lie to get ahead—unless you’re a doctor or have people’s actual lives in your hands, etc. Some stuff I did as a job seeker: 1. Lied in the interviews for several jobs…

uNeThiCaL recruitment hacks
1. Inflated my candidates’ salary expectations When I was a recruiter in external agencies and internal corporate, I would present candidates to my hiring teams, and I would ALWAYS inflate their salary expectations. If an applicant told me their desired salary, I would always round up $10k, $20k, $30k, or…
